Authors Luis Eduardo Aute

Manila, Islas Filipinas, 1943. Has lived in Madrid since1954. With an early vocation for painting, his first exhibition in Madrid was in 1960.  He has some thirty individual exhibitions under his belt as well as several other group exhibitions around the world.  Some of his paintings have been selected for International Art Fairs such as the Paris Biennial (1964), the Sao Paulo Biennial (1967), etc.  In 1974, he was awarded the top painting prize by the XXVII Mostra Fondazione Michetti, Italy.  From 2004-2006 he held retrospective exhibitions in Salamanca, Huesca, Santander, Estella, Cordoba, Canary Islands and Valencia.

After composing songs for other performers, in 1966 he recorded his own compositions.  Currently he has recorded more than twenty LPs and has composed more than three hundred songs.  In Spain he won the National Album Prize (1983) for his double album Entre Amigos [Among Friends], and in Italy he won the Luigi Tenco Prize (2001) for his life's work.

In 2003, he re-released all of his songs under the title Autorretratos [Self-portrait].  Two double albums have been edited of this recording to date.

Since 1970 he composes movie soundtracks.  He has also shot several short films and an episode of the series "Delirios de Amor" [Delusions of Love] for TVE.  In 2001 he illustrated, wrote and shot his first feature film Un perro llamado Dolor [A dog named Pain] which was selected for several film festivals: San Sebastián (Spain), Havana (Cuba), Guadalajara (México), Tribeca (USA), Mar del Plata (Argentina), etc

He has edited four books of poetry: La Matemática del Espejo [The Mathematics of the Mirror] (Angel Caffarena, 1975), La liturgia del desorden [The Liturgy of Disorder] (Hiperión, 1978), Templo [Temple] (BMG Ariola, 1986) and Volver al agua [Return to the Water] (Sial, 2003).

He has also written Poemigas in book-record format, Animal Uno (Ed. El Europeo, 1994) and book-video, Animal Dos (Plaza & Janés, 1999), Animal Hada [Animal Fairy], (Siruela, 2006), Animal Hito [Animal Milestone] (Siruela 2007) and No hay quinto AniMaLo [There is no Fifth Bad ANIMAL](Siruela 2010).

All of his songs are compiled in the volume Cuerpo del delito [Corpus Delicti] (Temas de Hoy, 2003).

His last records "A día de hoy" [Until today], "Humo y azar" [Smoke and Chance],  "Auterretratos III" [Self-portraits III]  and Intemperie [The Elements] as well as "Memorable Cuerpo" [Memorable Body] were edited by Sony-BMG.
