Yolanda Villaluenga. Journalist, writer, scriptwriter and filmmaker documentalist. She has recently finished a documentary filmed in Yaounde, Cameroon. She has also directed a docummentary on the flamenco dancer Cristina Hoyos Alcanzar el cielo sin subir los hombros (Reaching heaven without being carried on the shoulders) for TVE-2. She directs Archive, a documentary series for TVE-2 channel, among which A propósito de Borges (On and About Borges) and La servilleta de Picasso (Picasso's Napkin) are outstanding. She has been assistant manager for a TV programme on immigration entitled Con todos los acentos (With Every Single Accent) on Channel La 2; and has also written scripts for the TV programme Al filo de lo imposible (On The Edge of The Impossible). Her 2001 essay La madre imperfecta (The Imperfect Mother) on the myths that surround motherhood was published by Plaza & Janés, (Debolsillo). On that same year she spent time in the USA, where she published the short story De la Habana a venido un barco (A Boat Arrived from Havana) in Caribe magazine, Kalamazoo University. In 2004 she acted as curator for the exhibition La piña, el tejido del paraíso (Pineapple: The Tissue of Paradise) on the existing bonds among The Philippines, Mexico and Spain. It was held at Casa de Vacas, a venue inside the Retiro Park, Madrid. In 2007 she was awarded a Fundación Botín grant for the development of an art work.
Ann Arbor is her first novel.
