Seville, 1976. She studies Journalism because of her literary vocation and her wish to work as a writer. Before graduating with honours in the Univeristy of Seville, she works as a radio presenter in Radio Guadaira (1997-98) and as an editor in Agencia EFE (1998).
Only one year after, in 1999, she gets hired as a member of the founding team of Diario de Sevilla. For three years, she works at this newspaper publishing news, articles, interviews and reports in the Local and Society sections and in the Special Issues.
In short, the beginning of his journalist career is so intense that she puts his literary interest on ice.
2003 is a very important year in her career as she starts two unexpected and exciting adventures: on the one hand, she starts an enthralling TV project in Madrid being hired by Paramount Comedy Channel as a screenwriter for Noches Sin Tregua and Sólo Ante el Peligro, presenting Dani Mateo and Juan Solo. She also works as an actor coach for the TV programme Nuevos Cómicos, in which several prestigious professionals like Eva Hache, Joaquín Reyes, Ángel Martín or Alex O'Doherty first started.
On the other hand, she begins a PhD in Literature and Communication and the thesis Journalism and Literature, according to Mario Vargas Llosa that she finishes in 2006. According to the Spanish-Peruan author, the thesis "goes beyond the mere academic requirement for its open-mindedness, the depth of its analysis and the richness of ideas"
Several years of academic studies and fresh and creative journalism exercise give this author the skill and self-confidence needed to make the decision of writing the fiction that she previously outlined in her mind: Lazos de humo, in 2007. It has been a long, exciting and difficult way in which nine different stories had been gestated and which are already on their way of becoming a novel.
In parallel, María Iglesias has become an editor for the autonomic Andalusian TV programme about books, El Público Lee (Canal Sur 2 TV), presented by Jesús Vigorra and winner of the National Prize of the Promotion of Reading. She also collaborates as a cultural crtic in the digital magazine about vanguards Tertulia Andaluza and she has started her own website (http://www.periodista-freelance.com/) and blog (http://periodistafreelance.wordpress.com/).
