Silvia Grijalba is a novelist, journalist, poet, essayist, director of the Spoken Word Palabra y Música  festival as well as seminars about poetry and rock, counterculture and pop culture, such as the annual Poesía del Rock [Poetry of Rock] in Malaga.

As novelist, in 2003 she published the book Alivio Rápido [Quick Relief] (Plaza y Janés) and in 2006 Atrapada en el Limbo [Trapped in Limbo] (Plaza y Janés) which will be published in Italy by Sperling & Kupfer publishers.

Silivia Gijalba is one of the essential names in musical journalism and counterculture of the last two decades.  As essayist, she has published a biography of Depeche Mode (La Mascara)1995, a book about the "Movida Madrileña" [Madrid Scene] titled, Dios Salve a la Movida [God Save the "Movida"]

(Espejo de Tinta, 2006, Castelvecchi Italy, 2008). In April, 2008 she published "Palabra de Rock.  Antolología de letristas españoles"  [Word of Rock.  Anthology of Spanish lyricists.] (Fundación Lara), an anthology of the best Spanish rock poets, selected by the author and with her prologue.

As a journalist, she has worked in the culture section of El Mundo since it was founded, coordinating the music section and reporting on pop culture and counterculture.  Currently, she continutes to collaborate here with her weekly column "Sexo en Madrid" [Sex in Madrid] with articles for the El Cultural book supplement and with various articles on culture and trends.

She has a monthly column in Glamour magazine about current cultural affairs, another in the music magazine Ruta 66, and after participating in the literature circle TV program DCalle on TV2, she is "tribune de las letras" [arts forum] in the book program Las Noches Blancas by Telemadrid.  In 2007 she was chosen one of the 25 most influential trendsetters in "The most influential people 2007" list which came from a survey of over 800 people in the world of culture, politics , finance and the media published by the El Mundo daily.  Throughout her career she has covered all of the Spanish Music festivals (from Viña Rock to Sonar, to Doctor Music, Benicassim and all the raves) and she has interviewed artists such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, John Cage, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Martin Amis, Julian Barnes, John Giorno, John Sinclair, Bryan Ferry, Leonard Cohen, Patty Smith, Deborah Harry and John Lydon. She has collaborated on women's magazines such as Yo Dona, Vogue, Marie Claire and Elle as well as music magazines.

As songwriter, she has written for Ricardo Teixidó, Justo Bagüeste, and Susana Cáncer and she is co-writer of the album "Lo Eterno es lo que más dura" [The eternal is what lasts longest] and of  "El Futuro ya no es lo que era" [The future isn't what it used to be] by Javier Colis y Las Malas Lenguas, and she also plays the theremin with this group.

She's been awarded with the Premio Fernando Lara de Novela with "Contigo aprendí" [I learnt with you].
