Santiago de Chile, Chile, 1959. Lived eleven years in England.  Studied Biology at Essex University, specializing in population genetics.  Later on he studied design at St Martin's School of Art in London.  Once back in Chile, he worked as a designer for several different advertising agencies.  He was also art director and fashion editor for Elle magazine.  His stories have appeared in various media, such as the El País and El Mercurio newspapers.  El revés del alma [The inside of the soul], his first novel, was published in Spain and Latin America and is now in its ninth edition.  La mujer de mi vida [The woman of my life] has been translated in fourteen languages and published by some of the most prominent European publishers, and has been very well received by readers and critics alike.  At the end of 2008 Planeta published his El resto es silencio [The rest is silence] in Latin America and it is scheduled for release in Spain by May of 2009.
